TotM FEBRUARY 2014

This month's Tank of the Month belongs to the Luga Family.

Inhabitants:
  • * Chilli Rasboras
  • * Spotted Blue Eyes
  • * Otocinclus

How big is your tank?
The tank is a 2 foot tank.

What equipment are you using (filtration, lighting, heater, CO2 gear etc)?
The light is a Pro-Z LED. It has a Hydor Ekip Thermopump and filter used is an Up Aqua mini canister. The tank gets a dose of CO2 through the glass diffuser.

What aquascaping have you done (gravel, plants, corals, etc)?
There are 7 types of moss (native spiky, rose, star, palm tree, peacock, weeping and flame). The foreground is planted with HC, as well as Alternanthere Reinicki 'mini', Staurogyne Tropica, Staurogyne 'Porto Velho', and some Glossostigma Diandrum. In the background are Crypt Balansae and Limnophila sp Vietnam and some Anubias Nana. The substrate used is ADA Malaya.

How much time do you spend maintaining your tank per week?
The water is changed once a week, and a dose of macro and micro nutrients is added one or two times a week.

Tell us some interesting/unique about your tank?
An interesting fact about this tank is it started out as just a simple project to make little 2 year old Szandro's room into 'the cool room'. We were just going to have a simple setup with tropical fish. But as my husband said "once inspiration hits, you get motivated to create something that you didn't think you would be able to create". We never tried aquascaping before until this tank and we now enjoy it and spend a lot of time in the "cool room".
