Range: Upper Amazon basin, Peru
Reproduction: Egg-scatterer among plants, needs soft water. Fry initially require very small foods. Difficult to induce to breed.
Feeding: Omnivorous. Eats all normal foods, appreciates occasional feeds of live or frozen foods.
Additional Comments: Schooling fish. Popular aquarium fish, but not bred commercially, aquarium stock is all imported from South America. Males develop longer fins.
