Reproduction: Egg-scatterer among plants, needs soft water. Fry initially require very small foods. Difficult to induce to breed.

Feeding: Omnivorous. Eats all normal foods, appreciates regular feedings of live or frozen foods.

Additional Comments: Very popular aquarium fish because of their brilliant blue and red colouring, Cardinals look best as a school in a planted tank. Sometimes sensitive, but usually quite hardy once they're settled. Difficult to breed. Most of the fishes in the trade are wild caught or bred in Indonesia.
