Range: Colombia
Reproduction: Egg-scatterer among plants, needs soft water. Fry initially require very small foods.
Feeding: Omnivorous. Eats all normal foods, appreciates occasional feeds of live or frozen foods.
Additional Comments: Very attractive tetra when full grown. Males develop a trident tail and have a blue eye, females are slightly smaller and have a yellow-green eye. Commonly breeds in a well planted community tank, a few of the fry often survive if the tank is not too heavily stocked with fish.
