Range: Peru, Colombia, Brazil (wild form)
Reproduction: Egg-scatterer among plants, needs soft water. Fry initially require very small foods. Difficult to induce to breed.
Feeding: Omnivorous. Eats all normal foods, appreciates occasional feeds of live or frozen foods.
Additional Comments: Probably the most popular aquarium fish, Neons are schooling fish - the bigger the school, the nicer the effect. They look their best when in a planted tank with a dark substrate. Diamond heads have their blue colour primarily at the head.
