Range: Guyana
Reproduction: This tetra has a very unusual breeding habit: it jumps out of the water to lay it's eggs on plant leaves hanging above the water surface. The males splash water onto the eggs, keeping the eggs moist until they eventuall hatch, the fry then drop back down into the water.
Feeding: Omnivorous. Eats all normal foods, appreciates occasional feeds of live or frozen foods.
Additional Comments: Difficult to breed, aquarium stock is usually wild-caught from South America. Males grow larger and have longer fins.
