  • pH Level: 7.5-8.5

Range: Africa: Lake Malawi

Reproduction: Mouthbrooder: after spawning, the females incubate the eggs in their mouth until the fry are free-swimming. Males will mate with multiple females. The fry are easily raised with first foods such as baby brine shrimp.

Feeding: Carnivorous. Piscivorous, feeding mainly on small fish. Frozen and dry foods.

Additional Comments: Nimbochromis are fish predators, in nature relying on the camouflage of their strongly patterned markings to ambush prey. These are hardy fish with strong appetites, best kept with other large-growing Rift Lake Cichlids. Mature males are very attractive with multi-coloured bodies, females retain the juvenile colour pattern.
