Range: Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Australia
Feeding: Mice and rats for juveniles, adult snakes can eat rabbit, guinea pigs, and poultry. Feed adults fortnightly to every three weeks depending on size.
Additional Comments: Sometimes referred to as the amethystine python. Largest teeth of any python species. Quite slender, and generally olive-brown with dark brown or black bands, and a pale cream belly. Distinctive marks on the neck - large scales on top of the head. In certain angles when light catches the scales, these pythons display amethyst colours, hence the name.
