Range: Lake Tanganyika
Reproduction: Biparental mouthbrooder, difficult to breed.
Feeding: Carnivorous. Eats all normal foods.
Additional Comments: Lives in muddy-bottom areas of the lake. Has an extendable mouth which it uses to 'vacuum' the mud, searching for food items. Both sexes very similar in appearance. Keep with docile species such as Frontosa, do not keep with active territorial Cichlids.
