Range: China
Reproduction: Breeds in Spring as water temperatures start to increase. Scatters adhesive eggs amongst plants, the adults will prey on the eggs and fry if they find them. First foods for the fry include freshwater plankton (in ponds), or fry foods such as Vinegar Eels and Fry powder food (if raising in tanks).
Feeding: Omnivorous. Eats all normal foods, including aquatic plants.
Additional Comments: Ideal fish for the beginner, very hardy and suitable for unheated tanks as well as garden ponds. The Comet originated in Washington in the 1880s and is now the single most popular Goldfish variety.
