Range: Occurs in or near tidal zone of shorelines across Northern Australia.
Reproduction: Can not be successfully bred in captivity.
Feeding: Omnivorous, Commercial foods available specifically for crabs. Also enjoys occasional small pieces of fruit such as apple.
Additional Comments: Very popular 'alternative' pet. Easily kept if a few basics are attended to: warmth, a dish of fresh water (for drinking), a dish of salt water (for bathing) and use a cover to retain humidity. In nature Hermit Crabs hibernate in cooler months.
