Range: South America: Amazon region
Reproduction: Spawns on a rock, plant etc, eggs/fry guarded by the female. Males will spawn with several females.
Feeding: Omnivorous. Eats most normal foods, but prefers small live or frozen foods regularly.
Additional Comments: Hardy dwarf Cichlid, ideal for planted tanks. The females are quite dimunitive, growing to only half the size of their male counterparts. Readily breeds in lightly stocked planted tanks.
