FRESHWATER GIANT PRAWN (ROSENBERGII)

Range: Northern Australia and Indo-Pacific region
Reproduction: Bred for aquaculture overseas, but not normally bred in aquaria. Juveniles grow up in estuaries and migrate upstream into freshwater.
Feeding: Omnivorous, eats most fish foods.
Additional Comments: Also known as Cherabin, this large freshwater prawn makes a fascinating aquarium subject (and is great eating!) Adults develop very long purple claws. Please note: avoid the use of copper based treatments if invertebrates are in the same tank.
