Range: Northern Australia and southern New Guinea
Reproduction: Egg scatterer, usually only spawned in captivity after hormone injection.
Feeding: Carnivore, readily accepts most foods. Relishes live prey.
Additional Comments: Coal Grunter are our prettiest native Grunter, very dark colouration overlaid with intricate gold markings. An excellent 'pet fish', they become very responsive to their owner. Long lived (eg 10+ years for well cared specimens).
