Range: Murray-Darling system, Australia.
Reproduction: Eggs laid on a firm surface and guarded by male until they hatch.
Feeding: Carnivore, prefers live or frozen foods, or pellets. Will eat small fish.
Additional Comments: The Murray-Darling form of Mogurnda adspersa is considered endangered: wild populations are greatly reduced compared to historical distributions and are fully protected, it is already declared extinct in Victoria. Our Inverell fish are legally bred in captivity: they are suitable for either heated or unheated tanks (if temperature is at least 10 C.)
