LAKE WANAM RAINBOW (G.wanamensis)

Range: Lake Wanam, Papua New Guinea.
Reproduction: Eggs scattered among plants, usually spawns in morning. First food for fry: Powder foods, Vinegar eels.
Feeding: Omnivorous, accepts most standard foods. Avoid beefheart, feed vegetable foods regularly.
Additional Comments: Restricted to a Crater lake in PNG, considered endangered in the wild after the introduction of Tilapia to Lake Wanam. Males develop an extended anal fin with age, very attractive fish when mature. Best kept in a planted tank with plenty of open swimming space.
