Range: South-eastern Australia: Murray-Darling River system and Clarence River.
Reproduction: Eggs scattered among plants, usually spawns in morning. First food for fry: Powder foods, Vinegar eels.
Feeding: Omnivorous, accepts most standard foods. Avoid beefheart, feed vegetable foods regularly.
Additional Comments: Murray Rainbows can tolerate quite cool temperatures (down to 8C), ideal for unheated tanks and garden ponds in many areas of SE Australia. An excellent mosquito controller, suitable for frog ponds (if not too overgrown).
