Range: New Guinea: Mamberamo River, West Papua

Reproduction: Eggs scattered among plants, usually spawns in morning. First food for fry: Powder foods, Vinegar eels.

Feeding: Omnivorous, accepts most standard foods. Avoid beefheart, feed vegetable foods regularly.

Additional Comments: One of the more attractive PNG rainbows, but still considered rare in the trade. Mature males develop long fins and their colour can vary considerably depending on their mood. Best kept in a planted tank with plenty of open swimming space.
