Range: Western Ecuador
Reproduction: Eggs are laid on a hard surface, the eggs (and hatched fry) are guarded by both parents.
Feeding: Carnivorous and omnivorous. Eats all normal foods.
Additional Comments: Adult Rivulatus are extremely impressive fish with their beautifully patterned body and a strikingly coloured tail. At times very aggressive, these fish are best kept in a large tank with plenty of hiding places, either on their own or with large Cichlids, Plecostomus etc. Easy to breed, will start breeding at around 6cm. Rivulatus naturally exist in two colour forms: white tailed and gold tailed.
