Range: South Mexico to Belize
Reproduction: Eggs are laid on a hard surface, the eggs (and hatched fry) are guarded by both parents.
Feeding: Carnivorous, partly piscivorous. Greedy eater, prefers bulky foods.
Additional Comments: Despite their aggressive nature, Salvini are a popular American Cichlid. Shows nice colour from a young age. Females remain smaller than males and can be identified by a black bar in the dorsal fin. Provide plenty of hiding places.
