Range: North east India
Reproduction: Males build a bubblenest amongst plants at the surface. After spawning, the eggs are guarded by the male until the fry have hatched and are free-swimming. The fry require tiny live food such as Paramecium.
Feeding: Omnivorous. Eats all normal foods.
Additional Comments: Sometimes shy at first, but soon settles in. Prefers a well planted tank, also with some floating plants. Very popular, has been selectively bred into various brightly coloured strains. Males have more pointed fins and are much brighter coloured.
