BALLOON PEARL GOURAMI

Range: Indonesia, Malay Peninsula, Thailand (wild form)
Reproduction: Males build a bubblenest amongst plants at the surface. After spawning, the eggs are guarded by the male until the fry have hatched and are free-swimming. The fry require tiny live food such as Paramecium.
Feeding: Omnivorous. Eats all normal foods.
Additional Comments: Also known as Lace Gourami, males develop longer fins and become more colourful when in breeding condition. The Balloon strain is a shorter-bodied version of this popular Gourami.
